You need to select the package with the channels you would like to view.
Hello. thank you for the reply. I have the DSTV compact package. I am really really disapointed as everything is a repeat.For example the ignition chanel plays only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday)…howcome it shows maybe 5 diferent programs which are repeatd the whole weekend,at most you watch it for a total 2 hours per weekend.There are no good movie chanels only old movies which are also repeated.The Idols channel (199) should be aired only 2 hours a week as well as it is always repeated.yes the compact has a few sport channels..nothing fun. I think DSTV should be a bit more flexible as compact viewers are paying a substancial amount for your services and dont want to watch the same thing everyday…. its no use having 200 channels but they are all repeats.everythings the same everyday. if you send me a printed copy of your monthly guide i will be able to give you an exact amount of viewing hours that i will require or be viewing dstv on a monthly basis.

in May i upgraded from compact to premium plus extra view, i paid R760 to my surprise no upgrading was done. The whole of May and june upto the sixth we were watching half bouquet. I phoned sometime in May and u promised to fix the problem in 15 minutes time. Today u have switched off the service u are asking me to pay R634+50 what for? For half bouquet or premium? What about the R760 that i paid last month , the charge is for approximately three months half bouquet service. I need answers please.

from what i notice with regardto the dstv packages its either you take the full package at a ridiculous price or take a take i slightly cheaper package that allows you minumum viewing hours with boring channels as it is always repeated.theres nochoice in the matter…its either you pay a ridiculous fee or watch repeats.Why doesnt dstv allow us to specify channels we would like or actually watch and charge accordingly or individualy??? Personaly the channels that are not included in the compact compared to the premium are the most important or worthy chanels….eg mm1/2/mnet/supersport 1/2/3. (SABC and ETV)give me a bouqet with these channels only.Is it possible?

Hi Carmen, that is not possible. You have to select the package with the channels you would like to view.
Then can you put MNET and SS1 SS2 on the Compact packages then at least we can pay for the few channels we watch!!!!!

You need to purchase the HD PVR. You might be able to find installers that provide it at an additional fee each month, but I’m not aware of anyone doing it now. If anyone knows of such payments specials, please let us know, then we will publish it on the website.

Hi there. I have the compact package but can only watch the olympics on dstv, if I get the premium package BUT it’s available on SABC. My question is why don’t you then open it up to all packages? It only happens every 4 years and how much do you actually have to lose because we don’t have to upgrade, just turn to the SABC channel???

Not that I’m aware of. The SD PVRs still allow you to watch 2 channels at the same time, but I’m not sure if you will find a decoder that will allow you to watch 3 channels at the same time.

DSTV repeats all ist shows we are tired of that and yes let people choose thier own packages maybe you wouldnt ave so much complaunts you guys should try it. I know you are bombarded with the same questions repeatedly. Like the others I am a victim of word of mouth. Earlier this week I was informed that I could pay 99 for dstv and if I desired an additional channel I could pay an additional R20. In addition I was told that I need not choose a package but just take the ‘average package’ and add on not taking the premium package.
Could you kindly respond promptly. As I wish to purchase and install the dstv equipment later today.

In theory yes. You only need a decoder which will cost you +- R399 and a monthly subscription. But we can not guarantee the dish is still working. You can plug it in and see if it works, but if it does not work, you will have to contact a DSTV installer.

am very upset about removing cnn and cbnc from lite package. i am a pensioner and enjoy the channels.there is no other business channel on lite. it seems to me the survey was unfairly done probably during the day when men were at work. because it could not be done in evening due to consumer laws relating to advertising.why must i as a pensioner pay more now to get these channels or must i change over to top tv. iam extremely pissed off

We have a standard decoder on the Premium package. We want to upgrade to HDPVR and dual view. What is the procedure and what are the costs of the new decoders and the monthly cost changes.

You will have to purchase a new HDPVR, which will cost you around R 1499, but you might find specials the go as low as R1199. Try Pick ‘n Pay, Game, Makro or Price Check. You also need a dual LMB which will cost you around R400-R600. If you have dual view, you will need a splitter (R300-R400). You will have 2 cables running from the LMB (Dish) to the splitter. 2 Cables running from the splitter to each a PVR and 1 cable running from the spliiter to a single view decoder (obviously 2 if that is also a PVR). Then you have 1 cable running between the 2 decoders. Please check the price on the cabling, because that can get expensive. Best is to contact an accredited installer, and ask them for a quote.

If you purchase a single view decoder and you only want to watch one channel (thus wont record another channel, or connect another decoder to your existing subscription), then you do not need dual view or extra view. If you purchase a PVR (so you can record a channel while watching another channel), or an additional single view decoder, then you need to subscribe to dual view / extra view.

The Package you can subscribe to is Select2 which will cost R175 per month from 1 April 2013. The cost, will be around R400 – R1200. It is +-R399 for a Single view decoder. Some stores also include a free installation coupon for a single point. You then need to contact an accredited installer. You can get a recommendation from the shop where you buy your decoder. Please make sure that when you receive the coupon what it includes, and what else you might need. You do not want to find out later it will cost you a lot more. If you do not receive a coupon, you have to purchase a Dish, LMB (which sits on top of the dish), cable and connectors. But again your installer should be able to give you a quote on this. Please note, if you think you might get extra view of a PVR, you will need a different LMB and more cables, so explain your needs to the person selling the product to you.
